MOON RABBIT

Crammed with fabulous dining, hip bars and funky hotels, Petitenget is rapidly evolving into Bali’s latest nouveau cool neighbourhood and in terms of bars and restaurants, the latest addition, MOON RABBIT, adds a genuine touch of class. Opening last July, MOON RABBIT describes itself as a dim sum and liquor bar. From the outside, the design evokes late 19th century Chinese industrialism, a theme that continues inside with red brick, rough concrete and stone walls where the subdued bar and high ceiling lighting create a fabulous oriental speakeasy-style ambience. With a red entrance door, barred windows, a mix of vintage seating options, a sparse looking bar and some old Chinese decor, it really does feel that part too. Perhaps all that’s missing is the secret password or knock to get in? MOON RABBIT’s bartenders are already gaining a reputation for turning out some kicking cocktails.

High on the must-try list are the signature Yin Yang, the Rabbit Hole, and the Minahasa Bastard. The bar also boasts an impressive collection of martinis, beers, wines and spirits too as well as non-alcoholic drinks. The current menu is clearly evolving and today features over 20 Cantonese-style dim sum selections such as steamed hargow, pork siew mai, xiaolong bao, and the delicious cha siubao. There is also shrimp cakwe, crispy shrimp roll with mayonnaise, and crispy wonton along with a range of traditional desserts like milk custard and egg tarts.Away from the dim sum, there is a handful of regional favourites designed to tempt the hungry, such as kung pao chicken, salted egg shrimp and the scrumptious and filling roasted pork noodles. MOON RABBIT is open for lunch, dinner and latenight supper everyday between 11AM and 2AM. With regular live acoustic sets and occasional guest DJ performances, this fantastic new venue blends relaxationand dining seamlessly.
