Nara Welcomes JW Marriott

The international hotel brand has launched its debut in Japan’s most charming region.

JW Marriott, part of Marriott International, has just announced the opening of JW Marriott Nara in Japan, marking the first international luxury hotel brand to open in Nara, as well as the debut of JW Marriott in Japan. Picturesquely ensconced near the world-famed Nara Park, the hotel makes a perfect starting point to roam the rest of the city.

Located in Japan’s central Honshu island, Nara is known for being the birthplace of Japanese culture, and the first capital of Japan, dating back 1,300 years. With lush rolling hills and verdant forests, the town is also home to a UNESCO World Heritage site that includes 20 historic temples and shrines, such as the iconic Todai-ji Temple, Kofuki-ji Temple and Kasuga-taisha Shrine. Above all, Nara is known for its resident herds of tame deer roaming freely through the streets.

JW Marriott Nara offers 158 guestrooms, including 16 luxurious suites, showcasing the warm, earthy tones of timber, bronze and leather, mimicking the traditional homes of the town. Guests can also note the motif of deer antlers, representing Nara, hanging over the lavish beds in the guestrooms, and throughout the hotel.

Culinary-wise, the hotel is home to Silk Road Dining, an all-day dining venue with an open kitchen; specialty restaurant Azekura serving three styles of Japanese cuisine – teppanyaki, sushi and kaiseki; while the Flying Stag is the lobby lounge and bar. Furthermore, there’s the opulent Executive Lounge, providing a comfortable space to work or enjoy a conversation over drinks and light bites. Other facilities include 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor swimming pool, Spa by JW, a ballroom and four customisable meeting rooms.
