Netflix Picks

This week’s to-watch list on Netflix.

The Lovebirds

Issa Rae from HBO’s Insecure fame and Kumail Nanjiani from countless movies, like last year’s comedy Stuber, paired up in this entertaining Netflix original movie. The Lovebirds follows long-time couple Leilani and Jibran as they come to a turning point in their relationship, while unintentionally entangling themselves in a murder mystery. As they try to solve the mystery and save themselves, they come across thrilling and hilarious mishaps.

Never Have I Ever

Brilliant, funny actor Mindy Kaling created this Netflix original series inspired by her own teenage years. The series tells the story of Devi, a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl who is dealing with the perks and pitfalls of school and family in the toughest year of her life, the sophomore year. While the series has a comedy vibe to it, there’s an underlying heartfelt tone that you don’t want to miss.

Becoming

Follow former first lady Michelle Obama on her journey as she goes on tour to introduce her bestselling memoir, Becoming. The Netflix documentary plays a complementary visual role to the book, and the audience can take a deeper, authentic look at Michelle’s life, hopes and connection with others.
