The Setting

These include a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre fully equipped with Technogym Visioweb (allowing you to surf the Internet as you workout) and a serene Chi pavilion, situated above the gentle waters of the lagoon, as well as an 18m lap pool next to the main pool.

Personal Training
Reethi Rai has a dedicated fitness team on hand to give you as much or as little guidance as you need to work on your goals. Their expertly qualified personal trainers are available to offer customised one-to-one training sessions tailored to both the dedicated exerciser looking to push fitness to the next level or the complete beginner wanting to start a healthy lifestyle.

You can start by booking a fitness assessment, in which a personal trainer will guide you through a personalised health and fitness questionnaire followed by tests to assess your body composition, muscular endurance, stamina and flexibility. Based on the results, your personal trainer will plan a training programme for your stay at the resort and even beyond, to ensure you maintain your fitness routine once you are back home.

If you want more structured guidance, you can ask for personal training programmes customised to your specific needs, whether you wish to strengthen or stretch, relax, run or just regain lost energy.

Clean & Lean by Bodyism
James Duigan is known as one of Australia’s most famous personal trainers and fitness gurus, having helped many notable celebrities attain their ideal bodies. Reethi Rai has partnered with Bodyism, founded by Duigan, to offer his exclusive Clean & Lean living programme (it’s the only hotel to offer this to its guests outside of the Bulgari Hotel in London).

Clean & Lean encompasses the personal training philosophy of Duigan. They are specifically designed to strip fat, enhance health, improve posture and increase performance. The results of the programme are often dramatic Each personalised programme starts with thorough consultations and fitness tests in order to create realistic goals with achievable results by the end of your stay.

Specifically created by Duigan and his team of experts, Clean & Lean dishes, such Atlantic salmon ceviche, Vietnamese rice rolls and red snapper with Maldivian spices and Asian greens, are included on the menus of all of Reethi’s four restaurants.

Specialty Fitness Programmes
Reethi Rai also offers a number of other unique fitness programmes that utilise cutting-edge exercise techniques. One of these is Kinesis from Technogym, an innovative, science-based training concept that focuses on natural, low-impact movements that increase balance, flexibility and strength. There are Kinesis programmes that focus on everyday well being, while more specialised classes target body shaping, power training and sports movements.

You can also try out Power Plate, a unique training system that uses the principles of acceleration training to stimulate the body’s natural response to vibration. These vibrations transmit waves of energy through the body, activating muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second, promising to enhance overall performance in sessions as short as 15 minutes a day, three times a week.

If you’re looking for something a little more traditional, Reethi Rai offers plenty of other exercise options, including Thai boxing, aqua training, Pilates and, of course, a wide variety of water sports. If you’re looking to center your mind as you shape your body, you can also partake in the resorts numerous yoga (Hatha and Asthanga) and tai chi classes, which take place at the surreally beautiful Chi pavilion atop the resort’s private lagoon.
