Part of Marriott’s line of independent boutique hotels, The Hermitage, a Tribute Portfolio, Jakarta, is truly a one-of-a-kind property. The original building was built in the 1920s during the Dutch occupation and has been through many different guises, from a post office to a university, while the hotel that we know now is as recent as 2014.
The colonial architecture, clean white walls with elegant columns, the narrow barred windows and the grand staircase provide guests with classic aesthetics that are pleasing and nostalgic. Once inside, the Hermitage Lounge is ideal for long talks over coffee, light bites, and drinks, while 1928 is the hotel’s signature dining establishment serving everything from authentic Indonesian to colonial heritage dishes all day long. Moving up, the intimate La Vue Rooftop Bar is the perfect spot for a nightcap while enjoying a 360-degree view of Jakarta’s night skyline. Soon to join is Lee Anne Bakes cake shop, presenting a selection of beautiful sweets adopting local and heritage flavours.
Nearly every room in the hotel has a different layout, each offering its own different experiences. The most recognized are the two Presidential Suites on the eighth floor. Separated into two areas, first is a communal space for dining, socialising and small meetings, while second is the private suite with its own large bathroom and walk in closet. The Hermitage also offers All Club Benefit, which means that guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, all-day coffee or tea in the Hermitage Lounge, as well as cocktails and dining hours in 1928. To top all that, the hotel provides Hermitage E-Butler, a 24-hour assistant to cater to guests’ every needs.
