COMO Shambhala Estate

COMO SHAMBHALA ESTATE
UBUD, BALI, INDONESIA

The Setting
Located about 15 minutes from the centre of Ubud, Bali’s artistic and cultural focal point, this magnificent wellness resort offers tranquil scenery and luxurious facilities in equal measures. The lush nine-hectares estate, set along the edges of the majestic Ayung river is far removed from the area’s more touristy settings.

Opened in 2005, the goal of COMO Shambhala Estate is to offer a 360-degree, holistic approach to wellness. Resident experts, including a yoga teacher, Ayurvedic doctor and nutritionist are on-hand to guide guests towards their personal goals. Since its opening, the resort has garnered numerous awards from the like of Conde Nast and The Sunday Times.

The expansive grounds feature 52 residences, including luxuriously appointed villas with their own private pools and breathtaking views of the surrounding jungles and river. Each guest is also assigned their own personal assistant who is always at the ready to help you with any requests or arrangements.

Be Active (Get Fit)
COMO Shambhala Estate offers numerous wellness programmes, including those aimed at stress management, detoxing, rejuvenation, Ayurvedic and Oriental Medicine.  But if you’re looking to get a jumpstart on your fitness regime for the New Year, you’ll want to go with the Be Active (Get Fit) programme, which incorporates wellness consultations, fitness assessments and personal training sessions.

Participants also have access to the Estate’s extensive daily schedule of activities including priority reservations for the more popular ones. These activities include guided morning walks through the grounds of the Estate and the nearby rice paddies, yoga and meditation classes, Pilates and Aqua Therapy sessions as well as cultural activities and lifestyle classes. Guests can also sign up for classes focusing on martial arts, rock climbing, white water rafting, mountain biking and general fitness training.

The programme also includes daily meals at the resort’s two restaurants: Kudus House, which specialises in traditional Indonesian specialities, and glow, which offers all-day menus focused on meals that are balanced, nutritious and sophisticated, including a wide variety of raw food dishes. In terms of flavour, the food on offer here is far beyond the usual fare found at most wellness retreats (it won the AsiaSpa Award for Best Spa Cuisine in 2013).

At the end of the programme, guests will leave the Estate with a personalised map of how to reclaim their body, armed with core techniques gained over the course of their stay. The Be Fit (Get Well) programme is offered in packages ranging from three to eight nights, though longer stays can certainly be arranged.
