Peranakan Afternoon Tea

Serene days spent in timeless architectural beauty, surrounded by exquisite Indonesian artwork and artefacts, backed by genteel service are a soothing and uplifting balm to the soul and can always be found at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta.

This sophisticated haven, set in a prestigious leafy suburb of Jakarta, offers distinguished guests a choice of enticing afternoon teas in the refined ambience of the Majapahit Lounge. Backed by the gentle sound of traditional music, guests have a new choice to add to the ongoing international, English and Indonesian afternoon teas.

Created with respect for the local heritage, the Peranakan Afternoon Tea is served in three-tier wooden tiffin carriers, accompanied by tea or coffee. Derived from the blending of Chinese and Indonesian/Malay cuisines, Peranakan food is flavoursome comfort food loved across Southeast Asia and the tiffin carriers are packed with hot and cold, sweet and savoury Peranakan-inspired delicacies.

Lovingly crafted by The Dharmawangsa Jakarta’s skilled chefs, cold savouries include marinated crabmeat salad in kueh pie tee, Szechuan shredded chicken and prawn and papaya popiah. Hot savouries range from black pepper wagyu balls to fried shrimp wonton, crab claws and crystal prawns, while the sweet selection features traditional temptations like mango pudding, egg tart, kue wajik and ends with the classic original English afternoon tea dish of scones with cream and jam.

The Peranakan Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed from 9.30am to 5.30pm and is a not-to-be-missed experience.
