As one of the oldest properties in Bali’s Tanjung Benoa neighbourhood, Sadara Boutique Beach Resort takes the history and culture of its home very seriously. Formerly named Kind Villa Bintang, Sadara Boutique Beach Resort opened its doors back when Bali was arguably unspoilt in its culture and tradition and so the resort naturally pays homage to these “good old days” with architecture, hospitality and an entire concept built to champion Bali’s bygone era.

Despite enjoying an address along the pristine coastline of Bali’s high-end hotel strip, the resort’s foundations follow the ancient Hindu concept of Tri Hita Karana: the Balinese philosophy of harmony between God, humans and nature. The name itself, “Sadara”, means “respectfulness” in Sanskrit and as such the resort’s landscapes, interiors and guest services have been thoughtfully designed to adhere to the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, from the use of locally carved stones and antique wood, to offering guests cultural activities in the local community to enrich their Balinese experience.

Seamlessly matched, the culturally polished nature of this resort is uniquely balanced by a fresh and contemporary flavour. Each of Sadara’s rooms captures the elegance and charm of tropical island living; each has a private balcony or terrace that overlooks either the lush greenery of the resort’s gardens or the glistening ocean beyond.

Bright marble floors and cream-washed walls are drenched in natural sunlight and kitted out with 21st Century amenities, like flat-screen TVs, iPhone docking stations and, in the Suites, magnificent Jacuzzis that sit just footsteps from the powdery white sands and the Indian Ocean’s alluring turquoise hues. The exclusive and spacious Suites and the top-end Royal Suite rooms are specifically designed to deliver a whole new level of style and comfort, with modern boutique designs, luxurious facilities and distinctive and personalised hospitality.

Finishing off the resort’s old-meets-new experience without a hitch, Sadara boasts three signature restaurants that each present a selection of Balinese cuisine in a multitude of ways. Rasala Bistro, perched on the oceanfront, is reserved for stunning dinner soirees with a fabulous backdrop to boot, serving up a tribute to Balinese cuisine through the chef’s specialised degustation menu.

Meanwhile, Rasala Kitchen offers Indonesian and international comfort food throughout the day and at night the restaurant transforms into a “pasar malam”, a night market – an interpretation of Bali’s street food delicacies. Last, but certainly not least, the resort’s stylish Wave Beach Club serves tapas and cocktails based on traditional Balinese fare, letting guests soak up the sunshine and sumptuous flavours of paradise, while learning a thing or two about Bali’s enchanting culture, too.
