Fostering A Sustainable Community with Marriott

Marriott Business Council Indonesia launches Sadeva in partnership with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia.

Marriott Business Council Indonesia proudly unveils its latest endeavour in sustainability and social impact with the launch of Sadeva, a dedicated food truck aimed at supporting the humanitarian efforts of Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia. This initiative not only signifies a significant milestone in Marriott International’s commitment to sustainability but also emphasises its dedication to making a tangible difference in communities across Indonesia.

The launch event, held at Bali International Convention Centre at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali on 16 April 2024, brought together members of the Marriott Business Council Indonesia, representatives from SOS Indonesia and select media partners to celebrate this groundbreaking initiative. At the heart of the launch was a symbolic gesture of compassion, as 200 food packs were delivered to Yayasan Penyandang Anak Cacat (YPAC), a home for disabled children, reaffirming the commitment to support vulnerable communities in Bali.

Sadeva is the second food truck that Marriott International supports, thanks to funds from the annual charity event Road To Give 2023, which Marriott International Indonesia organises. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Doa Ibu, which was launched in Jakarta on October 2023, the new food truck will extend its mission of collecting surplus food and distributing it to those in need in the communities of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran in Bali.

Derived from Sanskrit, which means “blessed by gods,” Sadeva has great meaning. This choice reflects the essence of the project — a divine endeavour to alleviate hunger and bless lives through sustainable practices.

Aligned with Marriott International’s 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Goals and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Sadeva operates in partnership with SOS Indonesia, a registered food rescue non-governmental organisation (NGO) operating in Bali since 2017. SOS Indonesia’s mission perfectly aligns with the dual objectives of addressing food insecurity and combating food waste, making it an ideal partner for Marriott’s philanthropic endeavours.
