Bali

One of the world’s favourite destinations and fully geared up for romance, Bali is a fabulous place for a honeymoon. With plenty of stunning world-class resorts and incredible, private, fully staffed villas, finding somewhere to stay is easy. Despite being a small island, idyllic destinations can be found in the mountains to the north, the lush, undulating hills around Ubud, on dramatic cliff tops around the southern coast and along beaches at numerous places around the island.

The dining scene in Bali is incomparable, home to exclusive fine-dining restaurants like Kubu at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, high-quality restaurants serving every kind of cuisine from the most happening – Locavore in Ubud – to traditional Indonesian, such as Kaum at Potato Head, many of which are helmed by renowned international and local chefs. Dazzling beach clubs and bars like Woobar at W Bali – Seminyak and Omnia Day Club, present international DJs, while more casual venues showcase the island’s stunning sunsets and live music from talented local musicians. Innumerable casual restaurants and street-side stalls are packed with tourists and locals alike.

Bali is also memorable for its unique culture. Balinese Hindus are devout and carry out their devotions amid the buzzing tourist scene. Temples are found everywhere and have a busy calendar of rituals, which often include colourful processions through the streets. There are also island-wide celebrations of Hindu holidays like Galungan and Kuningan, the unique Day of Silence for the Hindu new year and incredible scenes around rivers and the ocean for Melasti.

Feast your eyes on Bali’s beautiful landscapes with a sunrise climb up Mount Batur, rice field treks around UNESCO heritage-listed Jatiluwih and waterfall hikes around the island. And whatever you do, be sure to visit the spas for a world-renowned Balinese massage.
