For more than 40 years, the BMW 5 Series sedan has been the most successful car in the lucrative executive car class. Not only is the All-New 5 Series faster, lighter, more fuel efficient and with lower emissions than its predecessors, it’s also fully loaded with tech and comes with the promise of style, comfort and quality.
Known as the Business Athlete, the All-New BMW 5 Series design combines both a sporty appearance and classic elegance. In Indonesia, it is available in two trim designations: the BMW 530i Luxury Line and BMW 530i M Sport, both feature an Active Air Stream Kidney Grille which automatically opens and closes the radiator grille to optimise aerodynamics, cooling and fuel consumption, as well as Driving Experience Control with COMFORT, ECO PRO and SPORT modes to suit your style and mood.
Sleek and elegant, the Luxury Line also offers a Sport leather steering wheel, Nappa leather trim, ventilated front seats with contrasting leather Dakota exclusive stitching and piping and the Ambient Air Package with a choice of eight scents in four categories complemented by Harmonious Ambient Light, dimmable interior lighting with a choice of 11 harmonious colours. Standard gear includes 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive Bi-LED headlights with selective beam, Parking Assist including rear view camera, keyless entry and ignition, navigation and a Harman/Kardon surround sound system.
Safety equipment includes full airbag protection, stability control, and dynamic cruise control. In addition, it includes some of the more impressive features from the highly successful 7 Series, like Parking Assistant Plus – where surround view cameras and parking sensors combine to create a 3D image of the car in its immediate environment.
With its M light-alloy wheels, stiffer M Sport suspension and integrated double rectangular exhaust system, the M Sport is more aggressive in both appearance and drive. The interior features M Sport seats, M Sport steering wheel and a more sporty brushed aluminium interior trim.
Living with the All-New 5 Series BMW
The new 530i is powered a 2.0 litre four cylinder turbocharged engine generating 252HP and 350NM of torque, all delivered via a smooth eight-speed automatic gearbox that powers the 530i to 95kph in around 6 seconds.
The extensive use of aluminium for the structure, body panels and suspension means the new 5 Series weighs about 100kg lighter than the previous model, despite being slightly bigger. The weight saving combines with the double wishbone front suspension and new five-link rear axle to make the 5 Series more agile and contributes to impressive fuel consumption figures.
Naturally the M Sport is the more aggressive package, but it’s surefooted and predictable. The seats, like the overall cabin, are comfortable and ergonomically flawless. The rear cabin is spacious and offers excellent head and legroom and accommodates three adults in comfort, whilst the boot is a cavernous 530 litres, more than enough for golf clubs and your bags.
The infotainment system sees the new 5 Series equipped with the latest intuitive generation 6.0 iDrive system, which displays navigation, telephone, entertainment and other functions on the high-resolution 10.25-inch screen. The screen features BMW Gesture Control, which detects gestures from the driver and front seat passengers and implements the command accordingly, as well as a New Interface Concept, where drivers can use the touchscreen to arrange six tiles representing navigation, media, communication, ConnectedDrive, My Vehicle and messaging in any order. For added convenience, the BMW Display Key shows time, service notifications, remaining fuel and current range, as well being able to lock and unlock the car and pre-set the cabin temperature before entering the car.
