Jakarta

The capital city of Indonesia is a vibrant destination that anyone should visit at least once in their life. It offers an eclectic array of traveller attractions from lavish shopping centres and world-class hotels, to a colourful culinary scene and rich arts and culture. The pièce de résistance of Jakarta is arguably the Bundaran HI roundabout area, the very heart of the lively city.

Some would agree that the roundabout is the most iconic landmark of Jakarta, neck-and-neck with the unmistakeable national monument, Monas, just a short distance away to the north. From Bundaran HI you can see the tallest skyscrapers that host the most sophisticated restaurants, like SKYE on the 56th floor of BCA Tower, or Altitude on the 46th floor of The Plaza. The aforementioned restaurants are coincidentally adjacent to two of the biggest malls in Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia.

From there, the possibilities are endless. Roam further and find happening neighbourhoods like Senopati, Sudirman Central Business District, Kemang and more – where you can find the trendiest cafés, bars and hangouts.

On the subject of finding your home away from home, Jakarta is also home to the swankiest five-star hotels, like Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, Pullman Jakarta Indonesia, and many more.

If educational attractions are more your thing, the city has quite the selection of museums where you can learn more about the arts and history. Some of the most well-known museums are Jakarta History Museum (better known as Museum Fatahillah), National Museum of Indonesia and the Wayang Museum. For those who are looking to enlighten themselves with contemporary and mind-blowing arts, Museum MACAN is one not to be missed.
