The celebrated Ubud sanctuary enters an exciting chapter as an experienced Four Seasons leader brings warm hospitality and fresh ideas to one of the region’s most admired luxury retreats.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has announced the appointment of Tim Churchmack as its new Resort Manager. Known for his energetic, human-centred approach, Churchmack steps into his role with a wealth of experience and a long-standing devotion to the brand’s culture of care.
Churchmack describes joining the Sayan team as a tremendous honour, viewing the resort as a rare example of luxury deeply rooted in wellness, sustainability and cultural connection. After 15 years with Four Seasons, he sees Bali as a natural next step. “This move represents an exciting new chapter, both professionally and personally,” he says.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Churchmack began his career in special education before discovering his affinity for hospitality. Drawn to the Four Seasons ethos, he joined the Chicago property in 2010 and quickly rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming Hotel Manager. His career has since spanned notable leadership roles at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago (formerly a Four Seasons property), Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara, and Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Across these experiences, he has been recognised for his collaborative, creative leadership style and his ability to elevate the guest journey with sensitivity and innovation.
At Sayan, Churchmack now leads an iconic resort long regarded as a benchmark of luxury. Set above the Ayung River and surrounded by jungle, rice terraces and UNESCO-protected landscapes, the John Heah–designed retreat offers a distinct blend of architectural drama and spiritual serenity. Its floating lotus pond, treetop and riverside dining, immersive cultural activities, and revitalised Sacred River Spa continue to captivate travellers seeking meaningful connection.
He shares, “Bali’s beauty invites presence and purpose. I’m inspired to work alongside our extraordinary team to create experiences that are luxurious yet profoundly authentic. It’s a privilege to now call Bali home.”
