With a global perspective shaped by a life immersed in nature and a passion for purposeful travel, Armand Thieblemont steps into his new role at Six Senses Uluwatu, Bali, leading the resort toward a future where luxury and sustainability go hand in hand.
Situated on the striking limestone cliffs of Bali’s southern coast, Six Senses Uluwatu has long been more than just a five-star resort; it’s a haven founded on the idea that travel should benefit both visitors and the destinations they see. Now, with the appointment of Armand Thieblemont as Director of Sustainability, that vision takes on renewed energy and clarity. From his new base in Uluwatu, Armand also serves as the Regional Director of Sustainability, overseeing Six Senses’ environmental operations and strategies across sister properties in the Asia Pacific area.
Born in France and raised across Asia, Armand’s worldview has been shaped by a deep connection to the natural world and early experiences on his grandparents’ farms. An avid diver and environmentalist, his pivotal moment occurred at Nusa Penida, a dive site known for its manta rays, off the coast of Bali. There, witnessing these graceful creatures swimming through waters littered with plastic waste, he realised the urgency for change in the hospitality industry and committed himself to being part of the solution.
He started his sustainability journey in Indonesia and later became the Sustainability Director at Six Senses Zighy Bay in 2022. In that role, Armand’s empathetic leadership and clear vision became instrumental in advancing the brand’s regenerative mission. He contributed to milestone achievements such as the opening of Six Senses Kyoto and the reopening of Six Senses Shaharut, both infused with the group’s ethos of purposeful travel and environmental care.
At Six Senses Uluwatu, Armand’s focus will be on enhancing the resort’s environmental stewardship, introducing innovative sustainability practices and strengthening community outreach. His approach is built on the belief that luxury and sustainability are not opposing forces but natural partners, each enriching the other to create a more meaningful, lasting impact.
With his arrival, Six Senses Uluwatu reaffirms its role as a leader in regenerative hospitality in Bali, inspiring guests to connect deeply with the environment while enjoying world-class comfort. Armand’s vision is clear: to create a model where every stay contributes positively to the land, the sea, and the community, ensuring the island’s beauty thrives for generations to come.
