The Macallan Finds Perfect Pairings at Batique Bar and Merah Putih Restaurant

The Macallan recently unveiled the reimagined Timeless Collections, signalling a new chapter of the 201-year-old distillery and its signature range of single malt whiskies. Unfolding across various events in Indonesia, the Scotch brand reintroduced the Sherry Oak and Double Cask Collections with a brand-new look designed by David Carson while keeping the same, widely beloved taste of the whiskies. To celebrate the launch, the unique flavours of each bottle’s distillation and ageing processes are highlighted through a series of flight tastings and dinner pairings initiated by PT Sumber Anggur Sejahtera.

The journey began at Alila Villas Uluwatu, where Batique Bar opened its door for an evening of playful gustatory cruise through an intentionally thoughtful pairing of The Macallan’s Sherry Oak 12 Years Old, Double Cask 15 Years Old and Sherry Oak 18 Years Old with bespoke pralines that burst with flavourful harmony. Crafted by the resort’s pastry chef, Chef Uri, the delicate chocolate confections bring out the palate of each maturation journey, whether it be the gingery boldness, mellow vanilla or notes of robust chocolate.

A special dinner at Merah Putih, a refined Indonesian restaurant in the heart of Seminyak, welcomed distinguished tastemakers to experience The Macallan’s three Scotch whiskies in a unique setting. Nestled between courses, the three single malt Scotch whiskies take on a new, more vibrant life as they mingle alongside the piquancy of the archipelago’s classic dishes, such as fried shrimp dumplings in a silky laksa, a char-grilled Lombok ribeye, the rich and nutty Nasi Uduk and an elevated chocolate Bika Ambon.

Both the flight tasting praline pairing and the special set menu are available until November 2026.
