BTN Indonesia Fashion Week 2025 brought Jakarta’s creative spirit to life with five days of fashion culture and collaboration. With over 34,000 visitors and a bold theme celebrating tradition and modernity, the event affirmed its place as a key force in Indonesia’s cultural economy.
For five vibrant days, the Jakarta Convention Center became the heartbeat of Indonesia’s fashion scene. From 28 May to 1 June 2025, BTN Indonesia Fashion Week welcomed over 34,000 visitors, bringing together 200 designers, 200 tenants and more than 4,000 creative workers. Now in its 12th year, the event reaffirmed its role as the country’s leading fashion and cultural expression platform.
This year’s theme, Ronakultura Jakarta, celebrated the city’s dynamic energy and diversity. Blending traditional identity with contemporary living, the concept highlighted how Jakarta is where heritage and modernity naturally intersect, giving rise to something uniquely Indonesian.
But the week wasn’t only about fashion shows. Alongside the runway, visitors found curated exhibitions, trade showcases, creative forums, culinary corners and lively entertainment. The programme was designed to support a sustainable fashion ecosystem, providing opportunities for everyone from artisans to established brands.
In her closing remarks, Poppy Dharsono expressed gratitude to the community that made this year’s event possible. At the same time, fashion veteran Musa Widyatmodjo noted the strong presence of young audiences and growing appreciation for heritage-based fashion. These reflections pointed to a promising shift, where culture-led fashion is celebrated and actively worn and lived.
International collaborations added another layer to the event. Designers from abroad joined local names on the catwalk, opening conversations across borders and reinforcing Jakarta’s role in the global fashion network. These connections are more than symbolic. They offer real access to broader markets and more profound influence.
The impact of IFW extends beyond the fashion industry. Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana noted that fashion can be a cultural bridge, inviting global audiences to see Indonesia through its fabrics, colours and design stories. Events like these elevate tourism and hotel occupancy and create real economic ripple effects for textile-based small businesses.
As Suharini Eliawati from the Jakarta government pointed out, boosting the creative economy is one way forward during tough times. With fashion at the forefront, BTN IFW 2025 stood as a reminder that creativity never stands still in Jakarta.
