Padma Resort Ubud welcomed the festive season with a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony that blends creative celebration, community spirit and a powerful message of sustainability.
Padma Resort Ubud ushered in the festive season with its much-anticipated annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, setting a thoughtful and inspiring tone for the month. Held in the serene highlands of Payangan, the event once again highlighted the resort’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and meaningful community engagement.
This year’s theme, Festive in Sphere, explored the harmony between celebration and sustainability. Taking centre stage in the Lobby Courtyard was a striking Christmas tree crafted entirely from 12,000 recycled plastic bottles. Months in the making, the installation was the result of dedicated teamwork, with employees collecting, assembling and transforming everyday waste into an impressive festive centrepiece that was both beautiful and purposeful.
Guests arriving at the resort were greeted by a giant Christmas snowball in the lobby, created using eco-friendly and repurposed materials. Throughout the property, festive decorations continued this mindful approach, with ornaments and installations handcrafted by the resort’s team from recycled and reusable items. Beyond visual delight, the initiative aimed to gently encourage guests of all ages to reflect on environmental conservation.
The ceremony was further enriched by a heartfelt performance from a children’s choir from Yayasan Widya Guna, whose joyful carols added warmth while underscoring the resort’s close ties with the local community.
The evening culminated in a communal countdown as guests gathered to illuminate the tree amid canapés, champagne, and softly falling snow from the resort’s snow machine. Festive snowfall continued daily at 6pm and 9pm, while the installations remained on display throughout December, inviting guests to enjoy memorable photo moments, seasonal entertainment and curated festive dining experiences in a truly sustainable setting.
