
The Bali International Film Festival, commonly known as Balinale, is excited to announce its 18th edition, which will take place from 1 to 7 June 2025. This year, the festival will be held in the picturesque coastal area of Sanur, in partnership with Icon Bali Mall and The Meru Sanur. Together, they aim to enhance the festival experience and further establish Bali as a vibrant global hub for arts and culture.
Deborah Gabinetti, the Founder and Festival Director, revealed this news while reflecting on Balinale’s impressive growth into an Oscar® Qualifying Film Festival. She also discussed the strategic decision to move the festival to Sanur, a location rich in cultural heritage and artistic tradition. Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra, Chairman of Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur, emphasised that the festival aligns beautifully with the vision for the Sanur Health and Wellness Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where innovation thrives alongside a deep respect for Balinese heritage.
Ed Brea, General Manager of The Meru Sanur, expressed his excitement about welcoming international guests and supporting a festival that celebrates cinematic storytelling from around the world. The Meru Sanur will host distinguished guests and will also be venue for the prestigious Awards Night Celebration, as well as the enchanting Closing Night open-air cinema experience (layar tancap), promising unforgettable moments under the stars.
Continuing its proud tradition, Balinale 2025 will feature a captivating programme of Indonesian and international films, insightful industry forums and community-focused cultural events, showcasing the very best of storytelling, creativity and collaboration.
