Running For a Cause

For the first time ever, Marriott International Hotels and Resorts in Indonesia hosted a virtual run event to raise money for those affected by the current situation.

A renowned brand in the hospitality world, Marriott International operates around 55 hotels and resorts catering to leisure and business travellers throughout Indonesia. Understanding the difficulties facing the tourist industry right now, Marriott International Hotels and Resorts in Indonesia hosted a virtual run to help those who are affected, especially its own associates.

Held around the country from 1 to 31 October 2020, the first Virtual Run to Give was joined by all Marriott International properties in Indonesia. While raising money for an Indonesia-wide associates relief fund to support Marriott associates affected by the current situation, it also supported Bali Children Foundation. During the run, general managers and other hotel associates took part to show their solidarity, with some running from Ubud to Seminyak, or Nusa Dua, while adhering to social distancing measures.

At the conclusion of the month, the event had raised around IDR850 million to support associates and Bali Children Foundation.

Last year, Run to Give took place across the Asia Pacific region, supporting non-profit partners, selected local charities, as well as contributing towards Marriott disaster relief efforts. With a growing footprint underpinned by the strength of its associates, Marriott International aims to continue creating a lasting positive impact in the local communities it serves, guided by its social impact and sustainability platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
