To celebrate the Earth Day this year, The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, honoured the day with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony in its botanical garden.
In honour of Earth Day, The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, proudly hosted a heartfelt tree-planting ceremony alongside The Heritage Associates. Held within the serene botanical gardens of the Sanur Special Economic Zone, this lush green haven stands as a living tribute to nature’s splendour and Bali’s rich legacy of traditional healing.
With deep gratitude for the exceptional dedication shown by The Heritage Associates, the management extended a special invitation to them to be among the very first to witness the garden’s evolution and take part in this symbolic act of renewal on Earth Day.
Carrying the meaningful theme “Root of Wellness”, the event offered a reflective and purposeful moment for the teams of The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, The Heritage Collection, to connect with the earth, reaffirming its shared responsibility in safeguarding the environment.
Together, team members from various departments planted a variety of culturally and ecologically significant trees, including white Cempaka, yellow Cempaka and Kenanga – all deeply rooted in Balinese ethnobotany with spiritual, medicinal and environmental value. Their presence in the botanical garden embodies a commitment to preserving local wisdom and tropical biodiversity.
The garden itself is a cornerstone of The Meru Sanur’s ongoing sustainability initiative, founded upon the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, the harmonious relationship between people, nature and the spiritual realm. Designed as an open-air educational sanctuary, the space celebrates Bali’s traditional healing plants while promoting ecological awareness and conservation.
The occasion was further enriched by a guided tour of the garden, led by Ibu Rahma, Director of Wellness, who shared insights into the garden’s unique purpose and holistic vision. This meaningful gathering not only deepened the spirit of togetherness, but also strengthened the hotel’s shared mission of environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.
