Jakarta’s style-savvy crowd turned out in full force for the launch of the Fruity Surprise Series, a limited-time collaboration between Sushi Hiro and lifestyle figure Chalton Ciptadi. The event took places at several key outlets and seamlessly blended fashion, personality and social culture into one vibrant experience.
The concept for the series originated from Chalton’s personal routine, where fruit plays a significant role. His passion for fruit began in childhood when he observed people bringing fresh fruit home from work, a habit that has stayed with him over the years. Today, fruit remains an essential part of his meal prep, supported by a health-conscious diet and regular workouts. This everyday habit inspired a menu that reflects his preference for fresh, fibre-rich bites.
At the centre of the series are two standout rolls. The Mango Dream Roll omits rice and features fresh mango, kani (imitation crab), cream cheese and cucumber, all wrapped in thick-cut salmon and topped with glossy ikura (fish roe). Meanwhile, the Berry Cloud Roll offers a sweet blend of strawberries and cream cheese, rolled with sushi rice and salmon, and finished with a sprinkle of red tobiko. Both rolls provide a flavourful, lighter option for those embracing a healthier lifestyle.
This collaboration is a playful expression of Chalton’s approach to food: fresh, vibrant and full of character, served with a creative twist that feels personal yet widely relatable.
