- Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan: Perched atop Doi Phra Chan mountain, this complex provides breathtaking views over Mae Tha village and the surrounding countryside. Its peaceful grounds feature two temples, one designed in traditional Thai style, adorned with Naga statues outside, and another built in Japanese architectural style, showcasing a striking Buddha statue inspired by Japan’s Kamakura Daibutsu, or the Great Buddha of Kamakura. The temple is closed every Wednesday.
- Khlong Mae Kha: A historic waterway in central Chiang Mai, this canal has been beautifully revitalised into a charming promenade inspired by both Japanese and Lanna charm. Stretching 750 metres and echoing the beauty of Otaru in Hokkaido, it features cafes, shops and local eateries along its banks. Open daily from 3pm to 10pm, it’s a lovely spot to wander and unwind.

- Kiew Kai Ka: Featured in the latest Michelin Guide Bangkok, this restaurant brings its beloved regional Thai flavours to Chiang Mai. The new branch nestled in One Nimman, blending a contemporary industrial-loft design with the warmth of greenery. The duck curry with rice is the signature dish, featuring tender, crispy-skinned duck in a rich, subtly sweet Thai curry infused with lychees, grapes, pineapple and tomatoes. Khao Soi is also not to be missed.
- Bar.San: Located on Charoen Prathet Road, this bar was named in Thailand’s 20 Best Bars 2024 and #1 Best Bar in Chiang Mai at the Bangkok Bar Show. This cosy, minimalist cocktail bar is open daily from 6pm until midnight, showcases inventive Japanese-inspired drinks. For a more intimate setting, pop upstairs and relax in a dimly lit atmosphere.
- TATA Chiang Dao: This café offers a stunning panoramic view of Doi Luang. Surrounded by a lotus pond, flower garden and golden teak forest, it’s a pet-friendly venue perfect for families, groups of friends or with loved ones.
