Liu Li Palace Seafood Restaurant at AYANA Midplaza Jakarta beautifully marries Sichuan boldness with Cantonese elegance, showcasing Chinese culinary heritage through meticulous detail and expert technique.
Liu Li Palace Seafood Restaurant at AYANA Midplaza Jakarta beautifully brings Chinese culinary heritage to life through careful attention to detail, layered flavours and traditional techniques. Led by Chef Wong Chee Hung, the restaurant seamlessly blends the bold spirit of Sichuan with the elegance of Cantonese cuisine. Whether it’s delicate dim sum or fiery seasonal specials, every dish is crafted with experience and served with precision.

Tucked beneath the Midplaza 2 Building, Liu Li Palace invites guests into a serene environment that reflects rich tradition. The space exudes quiet confidence, showcasing an aesthetic that honours heritage while remaining contemporary. The name Liu Li refers to an ancient Chinese glass artistry dating back over two millennia, known for its depth and delicacy. This technique serves as both inspiration and metaphor for the restaurant, which features porcelain tile details, soft lighting and clean architectural lines. Everything, from the walls to the tableware, feels thoughtfully curated yet overstated.
Chef Wong Chee Hung brings over 20 years of culinary experience to the kitchen, guiding the restaurant with expertise and a deep understanding of flavour. His background shapes a menu that remains true to Chinese regional traditions, featuring classic dishes like roasted duck, steamed dumplings and spicy stir-fries, all prepared using time-tested techniques while allowing for fresh ideas in presentation and flavour.

To add a seasonal touch, the current Fiery Flavours of Szechuan selection highlights the bolder side of the cuisine. These new dishes offer warmth and contrast without overwhelming the palate, incorporating ingredients like lotus root, dried chillies and mala spices. This selection reflects Chef Hung’s skill in balancing structure, spontaneity, tradition and experimentation.
On Sundays and public holidays, the restaurant’s Yum Cha experience takes centre stage. Families and friends gather from early morning to mid-afternoon to enjoy bamboo baskets of dim sum and share plates of comforting favourites.
Beyond everyday dining, Liu Li Palace is well-equipped for special occasions. The restaurant features six private VIP rooms, perfect for intimate celebrations, and two larger halls that can accommodate bigger gatherings. The space is versatile enough to host sangjit ceremonies, wedding receptions or business dinners.
To complement the meal, a variety of drinks are available, from classic espressos to mocktails inspired by icons of Chinese cinema. Signature cocktails are also offered, each carefully crafted to reflect the elegance and spirit of the venue.
