Celebration of Purity and Flavours of Indonesia

At the recent launch of Bunga Laut, Tanah Rempah, a collaboration between KAKAW Fine Chocolate & Patisserie and Indonesia’s fashion house Sejauh Mata Memandang, Jakarta’s creative and culinary community gathered to celebrate a union of taste and design.

Guests were invited to explore an exhibition of pralines infused with flavours, traditions and stories from Sumatra to Papua, each wrapped in Sejauh Mata Memandang’s signature Bunga Laut pattern. The showcase introduced KAKAW’s Sumatra Collection, inspired by the island’s diverse culinary heritage. Highlights included Ruby Kecombrang, with its floral torch ginger aroma; Dadih, made from smooth, fermented buffalo milk curd; Coffee Galangal, offering a warm, spicy note; Bika Ambon, capturing the sweetness of the spiced honeycomb cake; Rendang reimagined in chocolate form and Andaliman, with the citrusy heat of Batak pepper.

Continuing the exploration, the Papua Collection celebrated the rich, earthy flavours of eastern Indonesia. The collection introduced Colo-Colo, a lively take on Papua’s spicy sambal and Kenari, buttery Maluku-Papua nuts paired with rich chocolate. Arabika Wamena brought a floral coffee aroma from the highlands, while Jeruk Rimba added a burst of bright jungle citrus. Moreover, Talas Kelapa combined creamy taro and coconut and Ransiki showcased single-origin cacao grown in the fertile soils of West Papua.

To balance the richness of the pralines, AQUA Reflections served as the hydration partner, providing a clean and crisp palate cleanser thanks to its naturally balanced mineral composition and protected spring source. In addition to its role at the event, AQUA Reflections reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s creative and cultural industries through meaningful collaborations, such as this one.
