COMO Hotels and Resorts introduces COMO Journey: Bhutan Through the Lens, a six-day photography retreat designed for travellers seeking a deeper way to experience the Himalayan kingdom. Taking place from 14-19 April 2026, the programme is led by renowned travel photographer and Leica ambassador Christina Tan, in collaboration with Leica Store Jakarta.
The retreat reflects COMO’s commitment to immersive travel experiences that are rooted in place and purpose. Guests will travel between COMO Uma Paro and COMO Uma Punakha, two intimate lodges known for their mountain settings, calm design, and focus on wellbeing. From these bases, participants are invited to slow down, observe carefully, and engage with Bhutan’s landscapes and traditions through photography.
Christina Tan, widely recognised for her travel imagery and visual storytelling, will guide guests through hands-on workshops and on-location shoots. Her sessions focus on both technical skills and creative intention, helping participants refine how they see and capture a destination. The programme is suitable for photography enthusiasts who want to develop their craft while travelling.
The itinerary covers some of Bhutan’s most significant locations. In Paro Valley, guests explore temples, rice fields, and local town life. In Thimphu and at Dochu La Pass, they photograph landmarks such as the Buddha Dordenma and sweeping Himalayan views framed by 108 chortens. Punakha Valley offers cultural depth, from the riverside Punakha Dzong to daily life in surrounding villages. The journey concludes with a visit to Taktsang, or Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan’s iconic cliffside monastery.
Evenings are spent back at the lodges, where guests can unwind with Bhutanese hot stone baths, COMO Shambhala wellness treatments, and thoughtfully prepared meals inspired by local ingredients.
