New Stylish Hotels: Hiliwatu, Bali Ubud, a Tribute Portfolio Resort

Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s collection of characterful independent hotels, has expanded its Indonesian footprint with the opening of Hiliwatu, Bali Ubud, a Tribute Portfolio Resort. Tucked into the hillside village of Bresela in Gianyar, the resort offers a refined yet deeply rooted escape shaped by nature, culture, and thoughtful design.

The name Hiliwatu comes from the Balinese words Hili (hill) and Watu (stone), reflecting a sense of grounding and quiet strength. Set across 26,000sqm of lush landscape, the resort is a living expression of Ubud’s enduring spirit. According to Ramesh Jackson, Regional Vice President for Indonesia and Malaysia at Marriott International, Ubud’s artistic heritage and harmony make it a natural home for Tribute Portfolio’s celebration of individuality and storytelling.

Hiliwatu features 38 private sanctuaries, including suites and villas ranging from one to four bedrooms. Each is designed to flow with the landscape, using handcrafted materials, open-air layouts, and calming forest views. A dramatic 24-metre-high lobby anchors the resort, with cascading water features and serene communal spaces inspired by Bali’s philosophy of balance.

Dining is rooted firmly in place. Tapis highlights Balinese flavours using ingredients from nearby farms, while Omber offers fire-led Mediterranean grill and classic steakhouse dishes. Nira, perched high above the valley, blends Balinese soul with Mediterranean ease, perfect for sunset moments.

Wellness unfolds at Samya, where stone and water inspire mineral-rich treatments, yoga, and meditation. With strong ties to the local community and a commitment to sustainability, Hiliwatu, Bali Ubud, a Tribute Portfolio Resort invites guests to experience Ubud at a gentler pace, where nature sets the rhythm and every detail tells a story.
