A Night of Warmth and Cognac at the Cohiba Atmosphere Jakarta

THOMAS MENIER

The Cohiba Atmosphere Jakarta recently transformed into a sanctuary for fine spirits, hosting an exclusive Cognac Menier Master Class. This intimate gathering brought together cognac enthusiasts and top consumers for an evening dedicated to the art of fine drinking. The venue exuded sophistication, with rows of Cognac Menier VSOP and XO bottles glowing under carefully arranged lighting that accentuated their amber hues.

Guests arrived dressed in classy suits, setting a tone of elevated elegance from the moment they entered. The atmosphere buzzed with quiet excitement as attendees mingled, and the air soon filled with the murmur of discovery during the tasting session.

As Thomas Menier (Founder & CEO) and Jacques Menier (Founder & Global Ambassador) guided the room through the portfolio, guests took their time with the spirits. The VSOP’s distinct character sparked conversations with attendees noting its fresh hints of vanilla and peach. Others were drawn to the XO, asking Thomas and Jacques about the patience required to achieve its layers of jasmine and cacao. It was a brief but illuminating exploration, offering a first taste of how the Menier family balances youth and age across their collection.

As the evening progressed, the speeches took on a warm, narrative quality rather than formal declarations. Edhi Sumadi, Chief Principal of Cognac Menier in Indonesia, underscored the launch’s significance by describing Menier as a brand that honours timeless craftsmanship while embracing a fresh, modern spirit suited to today’s discerning connoisseurs. He introduced the concept of a legacy on the move, highlighting the blend of heritage and innovation that defines their family story.

HASTA PUTRA

On the other hand, Thomas Menier built upon this sentiment, reflecting on how their tradition is shaped by travel and the new connections formed globally. He expressed deep honour in bringing this spirit of connection to Indonesia. Jacques Menier then offered a generational perspective, sharing the emotional weight of their history. He spoke of Menier not just as a cognac, but as a family narrative passed down through time, travelling from their home in the Borderies to find a new audience among friends in Jakarta.

The final pours paved the way for a more relaxed segment of the night. Small groups lingered over their glasses, discussing the nuances of the Borderies terroir and the family’s meticulous approach to distillation. This quiet exchange of ideas between the producers and their guests solidified the sense of community that the event aimed to foster.

STEINLY

The night concluded on a high note, leaving guests with a deeper appreciation for the Menier family’s dedication to their craft. The launch successfully bridged the gap between tradition and the modern connoisseur.
