At Bali Island School’s Preschool Charity Market event, early-year students learned about sharing, teamwork, communication, and responsibility.
When children learn to donate from a young age, they build empathy, social skills, and positive character traits that last into adulthood. To support this, Bali Island School (BIS) held a Preschool Charity Market with help from a local social organization.
Classrooms became a lively market where children set up stalls to sell all kinds of items, ranging from keychains, flower pots, and dolls, to treats like lemonade, cheesecake, and gabin ice cream. By taking part in this event, the early-year students practiced teamwork, communication, and taking responsibility for what they sold. In the process, they discovered how their efforts can help others when their community needs support.
The market welcomed the whole BIS community, including families, staff, students, and other supporters, who all came together to support the children. As a result, the students raised IDR5,034,000, which was donated to the BAWA Foundation, an organisation that works to improve animal welfare in Bali.
This event shows that learning goes beyond the classroom. It can happen through real-world experiences that make a positive difference and teach children the value of helping others, showing that even a small market can create a big impact.
