With Balinese Heritage Cuisine as the main concept, the food at Bebek Timbungan is packed with rich flavours and cultural stories. Named for a dish that could previously only be found in traditional Balinese ceremonies, bebek timbungan means duck cooked in bamboo, and is prepared based on ancestral heritage recipes and methods.
Dishes here are crafted from traditional recipes using fresh ingredients and a myriad of spices, based around Bali’s iconic basa genep mix, and range from light seafood soup to hearty mains, including grilled chicken, mouth-watering satay and the famed megibung set. Many of the ingredients and spices have health-supporting properties, for example, belimbing leaves are believed to boost the immune system, strengthen bones, control cholesterol and diabetes, and reduce inflammation, while ginger is not only tasty but also helps reduce blood sugar and helps fight colds and headaches.
During these uncertain times, Bebek Timbungan is ensuring diners can still benefit from its nutritious food. The whole menu is still available for order, while a selection of special at-home packets have been prepared to offer complete meals.
