Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali Welcomes Its New General Manager

With heartfelt leadership, Jan Kroeckel steps into his new role as the new General Manager of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali.

Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali just appointed Jan Kroeckel as its new General Manager, brings a refreshing, hands-on leadership style and a deep appreciation for both people and place. Reflecting on his first impressions of the resort, Jan spoke warmly of the heartfelt welcome he received from the team, affectionately referred to as Heartists. “What captured me immediately is the friendliness across all departments and how warmly I was welcomed into the Mövenpick family,” he shared.

Jan’s enthusiasm is centred on elevating the guest experience while introducing new spaces such as an outdoor garden and events venue.

With over a decade of experience within Indonesia’s vibrant hospitality sector, Jan’s leadership style is grounded in presence and genuine connection. He describes himself as a “hands-on” leader, someone who prefers to be present on the floor rather than behind a desk.

“I enjoy spending time with our guests and our team, it helps me understand what’s working and where we can do better,” he said. It’s this approachable ethos that he brings to Jimbaran, aiming to harmonise Swiss hospitality with the innate warmth of the island.

In his early weeks, Jan’s focus has been on building relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of how to support the team. He’s been inspired by the strong sense of pride the staff take in their work and the care they extend to guests. “Our people genuinely care about our guests and about doing their jobs well,” he observed. For Jan, true success begins with creating an inclusive workplace culture where individuals feel supported, heard and genuinely valued.

With an eye firmly on the future, Jan is embracing innovation and sustainability to ensure the resort remains at the forefront of Bali’s ever-evolving travel market. A key initiative currently underway is the transformation of an unused garden into a vibrant events venue, which is ideal for yoga, volleyball or enchanting sunset weddings.

Sustainability remains close to his heart, and with the resort already Green Globe certified, further steps are being taken to deepen its commitment, including the expanding use of solar power, a new waste recycling centre, composting and a chef’s herb garden.

Dining is another exciting area of evolution under Jan’s leadership. Adriana Cocina & Bar, the resort’s lively rooftop Mexican venue, is quickly making waves. “Jimbaran isn’t known for nightlife, but Adriana is changing that,” he said with a smile. Open until 2am, it’s attracting not only in-house guests but also discerning locals and visitors seeking something special after sundown.

As Jan continues to settle into his role, his focus remains on nurturing meaningful connections within the resort team, guests and with the wider surrounding community, many of whom are already part of the resort’s story. His vision is clear: to guide Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali as a place of care, connection and celebration.
