The Marvellous McQueen

Bold couture brand Alexander McQueen has just launched its Autumn/Winter 2018 women’s collection drawing inspiration from metamorphosis, femininity’s magical transformation and the extreme nature that comprises the delicate and emergent beauty of butterflies and moths, and the opalescent shine of Scarab beetles, among others.

The collection highlights McQueen’s signature dramatic traits in tailoring, including strong shoulders, narrow waists and an exaggerated hip line. In true unpredictable McQueen fashion, however, the looks are complemented by fragile and feminine flow. Some of the noteworthy looks of the line include the deconstructed black wool silk jackets with bold red duchesse draped at the hem with lace or with butterfly printed silks and trailing threads.

As always, nothing is mundane coming from the brilliant designer, as evidenced from the combination of the bug-inspired accessories, freshwater pearls, military look and refined finesse found in Alexander McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2018 show – a true show stealer.
