TUSU

Newly opened in the heart of Canggu, TUSU is a cool and quirky bar that’s been designed entirely by its owners. Beginning with its structure, made entirely out of reclaimed ulin and teak wood from Surabaya, and ending with a mishmash of sentimental and inspiring knickknacks dotted throughout the space, TUSU is a personalised design wonder.

The space sees two floors with open terraces, the ground floor opening up to an evening dinner vibe whilst the upper floor presents a lounge setting with custom-made couches and tables, blending leather, upholstery and haircalf. Eclectic but familiar, the downstairs bar is made of several side tables all piled on top of each other and painted in one color, towered by mirrored glass and bordered with iron beams.

Blending old and new, all of the photographs, vinyl records and books on display in the bookshelves are collections of artists, models, writers, singers, designers and anything else that inspired the owners along the way. From the Fornasetti candle and the Bruce Springsteen LP, to the images of Basquiat and Andy Warhol’s Polaroids, each trinket in TUSU was meaningfully collected at flea markets in Brooklyn, tracked down at the art deco districts of Miami, or discovered down the random back streets of Bali.

TUSU was created from the heart using bare hands and the final product is both unique and undeniably impressive.
