Departing from traditional gallery formats, this year’s regional fair invites audiences to look beyond the canvas to experience a deeper cultural exchange.
We often view art as a visual experience confined to a wall, yet the most memorable pieces invite us to share in a deeper narrative. ArtMoments Jakarta 2026 embraces this exact philosophy as it returns to the Agora Ballroom from 4-7 June 2026. Introducing ‘Offerings’ as its central theme, the fair challenges visitors to experience artwork as a powerful exchange of ideas. It positions the capital at the forefront of Southeast Asia’s contemporary cultural conversation.
The fair opened its doors to invited guests on 4 June with an immersive celebration of modern creativity. Co-Founder Sendy Widjaja used his welcoming address to highlight how art communicates mutual care alongside cross-cultural dialogue. Government ministers Teuku Riefky Harsya and Giring Ganesha echoed these thoughts by noting the event’s strategic importance for the local creative economy. The ceremony then culminated in a whimsical performance by Henri Affandi, whose piece Sajja reimagined cultivation as an act of devotion to Mother Earth.
Guided by curator Jeong Ok Jeon, the space features over 70 exhibitors from across the Southeast Asian and South Korean regions. Visitors encounter a compelling cross-generational narrative where works by pioneering modernists like Sudjana Kerton sit alongside contemporary creations by Demi Padua. The visual landscape remains wonderfully diverse, ranging from expressive pieces by the International Watercolor Society to evocative photography by Ted Van der Hulst. To enrich the sensory experience, attendees can view the Bösendorfer Tree of Life Grand Piano or watch a dynamic Fashion Film installation.
Organisers have carefully designed the layout to welcome seasoned collectors and curious newcomers equally. Interactive sections like MobArt’s Kids Section provide accessible pathways for younger demographics to engage with creativity. Furthermore, public programmes such as Converse Moments host insightful artist talks to deepen audience understanding of the market. Those seeking a more hands-on approach can participate in live demonstrations through Makers Moments.
Open to the public until 7 June, the fair firmly establishes Jakarta as a vital gateway for regional art.
