The luxury retreat unveils a literary sanctuary dedicated to storytelling, creativity, and the enduring value of human expression in a digital age.
Nestled amid the tranquil landscapes of Ubud, Samsara Ubud has introduced a new cultural space designed to inspire reflection, imagination, and meaningful connection. Named Samsara Pustaka, the newly launched facility is more than a library; it is a sanctuary celebrating literature, art, and the richness of human creativity.
Created as a new dimension of the guest experience, Samsara Pustaka invites visitors to slow down and engage with books, ideas, music, and stories that transcend the fast-paced digital world. The initiative reflects the resort’s belief that while technology continues to reshape modern life, authentic human expression remains timeless and irreplaceable.
A key aspect of the project is its commitment to promoting independent Indonesian authors from across the archipelago, from Sabang to Merauke. By showcasing diverse voices and perspectives, Samsara Pustaka aims to foster a deeper appreciation of Indonesia’s literary heritage while encouraging guests to rediscover the simple pleasure of reading.
The soft launch began with welcoming remarks from Paulus Tuasuun, General Manager of Samsara Ubud, who shared the vision of creating a space where guests can pause, reflect, and experience the transformative power of stories. The evening continued with an address from owner Bayu Sarwono, who emphasised the importance of preserving spaces that nurture creativity and cultural appreciation.
“Technology may change the way we create, but stories remain profoundly human,” he said. “Through Samsara Pustaka, we hope to preserve a sanctuary where ideas are nurtured, imagination flourishes, and Indonesian voices continue to inspire generations to come.”
The celebration was further enriched by the presence of acclaimed Indonesian author Dee Lestari, who delivered an intimate poetry session that brought literature vividly to life. The evening concluded with a specially curated Indonesian culinary journey by Executive Chef Iwan Sutrisno, showcasing the flavours, traditions, and stories of the Indonesian archipelago.
With Samsara Pustaka, Samsara Ubud opens a thoughtful new chapter; one where stories, creativity, and culture take centre stage.
