Winter celebrations usually follows a familiar script of cold mornings and thick coats. For a refreshing change, Sun Siyam Olhuveli presents its Carnival of the Isles, an energetic escape from the cold weather’s bite.
Running from 21 December 2026 to 8 January 2027, the event transforms three interconnected Maldivian islands into a continuous tropical festival. BBC Radio 1 broadcaster Jeremiah Asiamah leads the programme with his signature Afro House sets, while returning British DJ Ironik headline the evening beach parties. Adding to the visual spectacle, Canadian dancer Nourah and Los Angeles-based acrobatic act Wildfire Arts will bring striking fire performances to the shoreline.
The weekly Grand Carnival stands at the centre of the festivities, filling the Beach Pavilions with lively markets and the pulse of live music. These celebrations invite guests to trade winter’s routine for the electric spirit of the islands, making the New Year truly unforgettable.
