Seminyak’s beachfront shifts gear as the afternoon light softens over the Indian Ocean. This September, W Bali – Seminyak introduces Alunê, a new beach club taking over the former Woobar space and bringing a fresh social rhythm to one of Bali’s most familiar sunset addresses. The name reflects its dynamics: a portmanteau of alunan (flowing rhythm in Indonesian) and lune (French for moon), the venue captures the neighbourhood’s rhythms guided by nature and the lunar cycle.
The space, designed by WELD, reflects this ethos and Alunê’s coastal setting with amber glass, hand-cut mosaic, carved timber, and stone-coloured greyscales drawn from the shoreline. It is meant to emulate the sunsets that remain one of the area’s biggest draws while pulling in the cool blue hues of the ocean, especially noticeable when one is perched at the bar.
Its menu complements the gorgeous interiors with a sharper culinary focus. Lobster Roll features spring onion and ikura, while Catch of the Day Sashimi pairs local fish with ponzu, chilli oil, and lime. At the bar, the almond-rich Ivory Tide offers a creamy counterpoint. Come dusk, Alunê begins its Sunset Ritual, combining twilight cocktails with live music as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
