This idea sits at the heart of Fly Bali’s Signature Picnic Package, which combines a helicopter journey with a private picnic and an intimate Balinese cultural experience. Designed for meaningful occasions such as marriage proposals, birthdays, and anniversaries, the experience offers guests a chance to see Bali from the sky, gather on its land, and connect with its living heritage.
The journey can unfold at Melasti Beach, known for its white sands and calm waters, or at Bukit Asah, a clifftop setting overlooking some of East Bali’s less explored landscapes. Personalised decorations, a curated picnic, and private surroundings create an intimate setting, while a traditional Balinese dance provides a distinctive welcome.
Yet the performance is not simply mere entertainment. Balinese dance carries layers of symbolism, history, and meaning, and not every performance is appropriate for a private or commercial setting. Some dances are reserved for religious ceremonies and sacred community traditions. Fly Bali therefore works with local Balinese artists and cultural practitioners to select performances that are appropriate to the occasion and respectful of their original context.

This approach was shaped in part by the Where the Fly Bali Flies campaign, which explores sides of the island that cannot be captured through postcard views alone. The Fly Bali team learned from traditional villages and their folkways, gaining a deeper appreciation of how culture is lived within its communities and finding ways to adapt these learnings for modern travellers within the right context.
The experience also reflects an understanding that cultural immersion is not about taking traditions out of their original setting simply to make them accessible. Some practices belong within the ceremonies and communities that have preserved them, and respecting those boundaries is part of experiencing Bali responsibly.
