Métis

Métis sweeps you off your feet from the moment you enter the fire-cauldron-lined portcochere off of Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak’s most fashionable enclave. Open-air rooms flow effortlessly amongst floor to ceiling glass windows complemented by naturally tropical timber and a stunning view to beautiful lotus & lily ponds that have been meticulously preserved amongst the building boom on Bali.

Carrying on the tradition of fine dining culinary artistry, award-winning Chef Nicolas ‘Doudou’ Tourneville is an icon in Asia who weaves his magic to produce dishes that complement the restaurant’s sophisticated, yet relaxed lounge style setting.  Never one to displease his cult following, you will find Chef Doudou at the helm of an international team, inspiring discerning guests with classic and innovative dishes. All time favourites include anything from the sumptuous foie gras menu. If you’re in the mood to splurge, go for the Trilogy of Foie Gras, a decadent campur of port wine foie gras, Champagne foie gras and cognac foie gras. We can’t imagine anything better with a sparkling glass – or better yet chilled bottle – of bubbly on the open-air veranda. For seafood fanatics, the Grilled Seafood Platter for two with basil lemon oil coulis showcases Pacific Reef lobster tail, gambas, Papua crab, tiger prawns, squid, tuna and coral trout – this feast is as close to heaven on earth as you’ll get in Seminyak.

No matter how tempted you’ll be to try everything on the menu, it would be a sin not to save room for something sweet. Desserts are just as glamorous as the entrées with delicacies such as the Chef’s very special twist on the traditional chocolate soufflé. Make sure to order 25 minutes in advance and good luck trying to choose between Pista Choc, Maxi  Marnier, Coconut and Raspberry.

Métis is where you’ll want to be every Friday afternoon starting at 5:30pm, as their weekly Aperochic celebration is the only way to kick off your weekend. Luscious cocktails starting at IDR 60,000, a complimentary selection of scrumptious canapés and soulful grooves by their resident DJ make for one of the most stylish TGIFs on the island.

Additionally, Métis has just completed construction on their new Métis Lounge, opening this month; which offers a new Mediteranean oriented tapas menu with a touch of Japanese flavour. The new Lounge opens from Monday to Saturday from 4 PM until 2 PM and is sure to become an absolute hit with locals & tourists alike.

Art To Dine For

Why not add a little art to your next culinary adventure? At Métis, you can indulge in the island’s most sought after cosmopolitan French cuisine while also perusing Asia’s most exciting exhibits. Métis houses a chic gallery space where top artists from around the world display their works of art for fun and for purchase. If you happen to be on the island during an exhibit launch, make sure to attend the opening night as the island’s glitterati show up in full force, clinking Champagne glasses and sporting the latest looks from Bali’s top designers. In addition to the rotating gallery, Métis also stocks up on treasures sourced from around the Indonesian archipelago. This is where you’ll want to shop for that quintessential je ne sais quoi to take back home with you.
