Miss World 2013 Nusa-Dua, Bali

MISS PHILIPPINES CROWNED MISS WORLD 2013 IN NUSA DUA, BALI

AS CHANAKYA, THE REVERED INDIAN PHILOSOPHER ONCE SAID, ‘THE WORLD’S BIGGEST POWER IS THE YOUTH AND BEAUTY OF A WOMAN’ AND THERE WAS NO BETTER PLACE TO ENJOY THE WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN THIS YEAR THAN AT THE WESTIN RESORT NUSA DUA, BALI, WHERE THE MISS WORLD 2013 BEAUTY PAGEANT CONTESTANS WERE HOSTED EARLIER THIS YEAR.

Managing Director, Mr. Bipan Kapur, together with his management team created a memorable arrival for the contestants to symbolize Bali’s legendary hospitality, treating them to a welcoming ceremony involving Balinese dancers and a scattering of fresh tropical flowers. Ensconced within the resort’s brand new wing featuring a lagoon swimming pool, the ladies maintained a healthy diet throughout their stay with The Westin’s signature SuperFoodsRX breakfast, hosted in privacy each morning at Prego, a relaxed and colourful dining venue.

The resort’s newly refurbished Exhibition Gallery created the perfect place for the contestants to spend valuable time rehearsing their stage moves. Some of the ladies were even treated to learning how to perform a traditional Indonesian dance while others preferred to train in the resort’s five-star WestinWORKOUT facility.

Despite a demanding schedule while on Bali, the contestants were able to squeeze in a bit of down time with an early morning turtle release on the white sand beach of Nusa Dua supported by Bali Sea Turtle Society and a dynamic shopping experience at Kampung Westin, an evening bazaar set up in front of the Bali International Convention Centre recreating the lively ambience of a traditional Balinese marketplace with stalls selling handicrafts and souvenirs. The ladies enjoyed this fun shopping experience and were able to interact with the members of the local community whilst learning the art of bartering. The resort’s soon-to-launch Heavenly Spa by Westin also took part in this inspiring evening providing contestants with a relaxing head and shoulder massage.

The prestigious international event came to an end on Saturday, 28th September with a closing ceremony and coronation dinner hosted at the Bali International Convention Centre. It was a glamorous evening that attracted an audience of Indonesian celebrities and VIP guests as the contestants took to the stage for the very first time. Viewers from 160 nations around the globe watched a live telecast as Megan Young from the Philippines was crowned Miss World 2013.
