Grandeur is somewhat of an expectation where Raffles is concerned. There’s no shortage of that in the Bali outpost, especially as it one-up itself with the most impressive addition to its collection of keys, the private estate Residence K.
Boasting a whopping 4,310sqm space, the four-bedroom residential occupies a space of its own, away from the pool villas that usually find themselves housing honeymooners and families that spare no expense for their vacations. But guests of this private residence would encounter no one outside of their own entourage upon arrival at the porte-cochère, save for the Raffles Butler ready to answer to every need during one’s stay.
Residence K encapsulates the whole resort’s foliage-dominated aesthetic. The interiors never stray too far from the natural surroundings outside, furnished with Palimanan limestone, Sukabumi green slate, teak, and ironwood for an organic interpretation of modernity.
Spread across two levels are two master bedrooms and two guestrooms with their own en-suite bathrooms. A whole ménage of amenities makes it tempting to stay in: a private gym with its own spa, a heated jet tub next to a 20-metre pool, even a cosy study for one’s own productive nook. But the gorgeous resort grounds are almost impossible to resist, especially with the chance to encounter endemic occupants like the Buru green pigeon and strikingly blue Javan kingfisher who might just fanfare your presence with their birdsong. Even beyond the resort, the island itself offers much to explore, with the convenience of the resort’s own heliport to bypass all the traffic on ground.
One would never go hungry while staying here; two kitchens and dining rooms would suit one’s preferred meal setup, whether inside or alfresco. But, for a change of pace, guests can trade them for on-site restaurants Rumari and Loloan Coastal Peruvian. Cap it all off at the Raffles fixture, The Writers Bar, where classic tipples are paired with a library of thoughtfully curated books and traditional Balinese artwork.
