A: As Director of Marketing Communications at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place, I oversee strategies that strengthen brand visibility and engagement with luxury clientele. My role includes developing marketing plans, managing public relations and media partnerships, supervising digital initiatives, coordinating campaigns and events, and ensuring consistent brand presence across all communication platforms.

Q: What does a typical day look like?

A: My day begins with a team line-up and leadership briefing, followed by reviewing industry trends and competitor updates. I meet with colleagues and potential partners to discuss campaigns and collaborations. The day balances strategic planning, creative discussions, and cross-department coordination, all while supporting the brand’s presence in the luxury hospitality landscape.

Q: What’s the toughest part of your job?

A: The toughest part of my role is navigating constantly evolving consumer preferences and digital marketing trends while preserving the brand’s prestige. It requires balancing innovation with consistency in messaging and maintaining the high standards associated with The Ritz-Carlton. Achieving this demands strategic thinking, creativity, and close collaboration across departments to strengthen guest engagement.

Q: Who has influenced you the most?

A: My mother has been the greatest influence in my life. She taught me the values of hard work, resilience, and integrity, while showing the importance of compassion. Her grace in navigating life continues to inspire how I lead and communicate, guiding me to approach both my career and decisions with clarity and empathy.

Q: What do you find most satisfying about your work?

A: I find the greatest satisfaction in creating meaningful connections between guests and the experiences we offer. Shaping narratives that reflect the brand’s character allows me to engage audiences genuinely. Collaborating with a strong team and seeing our campaigns enhance guest experiences makes the work both rewarding and motivating.

Q: If you hadn’t become a marketing and communications director, what career path would you have chosen?

A: If I hadn’t pursued a career in marketing communications, I would likely have become a TV presenter. Television offers a natural platform for storytelling and audience connection, which strongly appeals to me. It combines communication and the opportunity to engage with people while sharing stories in a dynamic media landscape.
