Sanur Kite Festival: late June through August 2016

Attracting huge local, national and international attention, kite festivals are one of Bali’s major annual highlights and, aside from being great family fun, they present a window into the island’s unique village life. The festival is actually a series of competitions taking place from late June until late August over most weekends – winds permitting – mainly at Padang Galak, just north of Sanur. Expect tens of thousands of flag-waving supporters to join the larger events and a total carnival atmosphere as village groups roar their support, accompanied by the unique sound of gamelan orchestras, from early morning until dusk.
