Hvar Island – Croatia

Just off Croatia’s postcard-perfect Dalmatian Coast is Hvar Island. The name might not be too familiar yet, but it is where Prince Harry frequented back in his partying days, as well as being the A-list celebrities’ choice for a quick getaway, including stars like George Clooney, Jay-Z and Beyonce. Legendary cobbled streets and white-washed towns in Stari Grad and Vrboska, as well as crystal-clear water and scenic beaches and coves, are the reason why the island keeps being mentioned by those in the know.

Head to the Španjola Fortress, also known as the Hvar Fort, and bask in the picturesque town views from an elevated vantage point. Follow that up by exploring Hvar’s best beaches; Malo Zaraće beach is a secluded, yet surreal sight to behold. Meanwhile, Pokonji Dol is a popular beach that looks like a summer dream out of a 70s’ Mediterranean movie.

Being separate from the mainland allows Hvar to hold on to its unspoiled character. Roam around and discover sprawling lavender fields, while ancient olive trees and vineyards zigzag across the island. Make a stop at one of the small inns or bars and enjoy the island’s top commodities, olives and wine. For pumping parties and a cosmopolitan crowd, stay close to Hvar Town – the capital of the island. However, for a quick getaway, escape to the nearby Pakleni Islands by boat.

For a great stay, opt for Maslina Resort in the Stari Grad area, an elegant resort with a mindful luxury concept. Its stunning location comprises secluded spots to lose track of time and a dedicated pebble beach overlooking the alluring sea of Maslinica Bay. There are only an exclusive 50 rooms, most with sea views and a few with private plunge pools.
