The New Experience of Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi

Past its metropolitan glamour, there’s still an underpinning of traditional culture that pulses underneath Tokyo. This is the spirit behind Four Seasons Tokyo at Marunouchi, which recently reopened following its ten-month renovation process. Legendary architect and interior designer André Fu conjured a transformation into a Nihon no teitaku, a traditional Japanese manor that’s as stately as it is luxurious.

Guests’ first welcome is a discreet porte-cochère that opens to the richly textured, warm lobby illuminated by a soft glow inspired by komorebi, the concept of sunlight filtering through trees. Each of the 57 rooms and suites is equipped with hardwood joinery of custom furniture, welcoming travellers to a world of elegance and sleekness, designed as a modern residence where one can find calm within the urban bustle.

The experience echoes this ethos. Find delight in the mini bar, which proffers handcrafted Japanese tea sets for premium local teas to pair with traditional rice crackers. Arrival is also marked by the sweet welcome of wagashi and seasonal Japanese fruit, while stays embrace the spirit of omotenashi, inviting guests on personalised experiences that include ramen-making workshops, sumo outings, or a curated bar-hopping excursion through Ginza and Shinjuku.
