Spa Village – Pangkor Laut Resort

‘Get Your Spa On’ at Malaysia’s One and Only

Pangkor Laut is a privately owned island located three miles off the West Coast of Malaysia along the Straits of Malacca. This piece of paradise has been two million years in the making, and here you will find one of the world’s premier properties nestling in the shade of forest giants as old as the land.

You will find no other resorts – just secluded bays curled around pristine beaches, evening skies woven with color, and a deep sense of serenity reserved exclusively for a few lucky guests. A combination of luxury, natural beauty and age-old wilderness woven together has produced an environment where peace and magically memorable moments are the currency.

Of the island’s 300 acres, only a fraction has been developed to house the Resort and its eight Estates. Wooden buildings blend seamlessly into the forest as if nature had been the architect dictating how walls curve around foliage, and roofs open up to allow trees to continue on their journey to the sky. Nature is respected here, almost revered, and it rewards visitors in ways that simply need to be experienced.

Tranquility and Privacy Redefined

Comfort, warmth and contemporary elegance find a unique home that rests comfortably into its jungle island habitat, offering guests beautifully appointed accommodation.

Dreamy Sea Villas stand elegantly on stilts above playful waves. Linked by wooden walkways, these villas are the signature feature of the island. Offering uninterrupted views of the sea beyond, the generous outdoor bathtub found in each Beach Villa is situated in a private outdoor courtyard. Perched dramatically on the hillside amidst the rainforest, Hill Villas have a magnificent view of both the never ending ocean as well as the resort’s beautiful tropical gardens. You will find yourself nestled within lush gardens or perched just above the ebb and flow of whispering tides – the perfect spot to contemplate the majesty of a sunrise or the tranquility of a sunset painted across the sky just for you.

Named after Pavarotti, the world-renowned tenor who fell in love with Pangkor Laut, The Pavarotti Suite is an elegant two-bedroom suite set high on the hill in the rainforest. It has a spacious and luxurious lounge area, an extensive balcony with breathtaking views of the sea and tropical rainforest, and an enormous open-roofed bathroom. Floating above the sea, twenty-two Spa Villas offer direct access to the place that has tempted you to travel to Pangkor Laut in the first place, Spa Village.

Ideal Setting for Complete Rejuvenation

Pangkor Laut’s Spa Village is a unique retreat that extols the healing cultures of the region. Malaysia, with its diverse history of people and cultures, and a vast abundance of natural resources, provides the backdrop for health rituals that are amongst the oldest in the world. The abundance of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Thai practices makes this the ideal setting for complete rejuvenation.

Comprised of a number of specially built structures designed to facilitate an extensive range of treatments from China, Japan, India, Thailand, Bali and Malaysia, you will find eight lovely treatment pavilions, a deluxe Belian Treatment Pavilion, three ‘Healing Huts’, which include Chinese Herbal, Ayurvedic and Malay Huts, two Bath Houses, three Spa Huts, three Nap Gazebos and a Spa Boutique.

Offering set and customized programs that combine physical, spiritual health, and well-being, each program is based on one of four umbrella concepts: Rejuvenation and Longevity, Relaxation and Stress Reduction, Detoxification, and Romance. For those seeking to fully experience the health rituals of the region, the spa recommends an initial private consultation with their Chinese, Ayurvedic or Malay Specialist at the beginning of your stay. Their comprehensive approach to health will lend helpful insight to your stay at the Spa Village, as well as life-long tools for vibrant living.
Your treatment begins with a unique ‘Bath House Ritual’ which represents various bathing traditions from around Asia. This starts with a soothing footbath and an invigorating Chinese Foot Pounding, previously only enjoyed by the concubines of feudal China. From there you will be escorted to the Bath Houses to enjoy the traditional Malay ‘circulating’ bath, and a Japanese-style cleansing with a ‘goshi-goshi’ cloth, followed by a dip in the heated Rotenburu pool. A gentle exfoliating wash follows with their signature Shanghai Scrub. In Shanghai, this is traditionally offered exclusively to men. After your scrub, enjoy a cup of calming tea in tranquil surroundings. As a memento of your experience at Pangkor Laut, a traditional batik sarong is presented daily with treatments.
